MADAWASKA – Karen Bourgoin, 37, died Dec. 29, 2008, at her home. She was born April 11, 1971, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, the daughter of Philip “Babe” and Kathleen (Cyr) Leonard. Karen was a 1989 graduate of Madawaska High School. She worked for many years at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, providing care and love for the elderly. In the past few years, she remained at home to help her husband with their business, Pete’s Car Wash & Redemption Center. Karen enjoyed scrapbooking and spending time with her family, especially her nephews. She was best known for her unselfishness, kindness and generosity. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Peter Bourgoin of Madawaska; one sister, Donna Leonard and her fianc?, Nick Deprey, of St. David; her paternal grandmother, Azilda Leonard of Grand Isle; her maternal grandmother, Fernande Cyr of Madawaska; two nephews, Nathan Levesque and Noah Deprey; and her mother-in-law, Velma Bourgoin of Madawaska. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. David Church. Friends and relatives may call 8:30 a.m. until time of the services Saturday at the church. Interment will be later in the spring at the parish cemetery.
