MADAWASKA – J. Clarence Pelletier, 77, died Jan. 3, 2009, in Fort Kent, after a brief illness. He was born July 5, 1931, in Madawaska, the son of Albert and Annie (Picard) Pelletier. Clarence was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran, a member of Thomas O. Cyr Legion Post No. 147 of Madawaska and a third degree member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 2638 of Madawaska. He attended Indiana Tech, earned his teaching degree from the University of Farmington, and was a public school educator for 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Michaud) Pelletier of Madawaska; one son, Paul Pelletier and his wife, Susan, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; one daughter, Janice Foster of Skowhegan; one sister, Gladys Dunlap and her husband, Dewey, of Bakersfield, Calif.; three grandchildren, Matthew Foster of Salt Lake City, Daniel Foster of Skowhegan and Stephanie Foster of Old Orchard Beach; several nieces, nephews and special cousins. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be at the parish cemetery in the spring.
