PITTSFIELD – Lieselotte S. Cropley, 75, died peacefully Jan. 2, 2009, in Pittsfield. She was born Oct. 13, 1933, in Wiesbaden, Germany, daughter of Hans and Elsie (Bug) Schleider. She was educated in Germany and married Eugene Cropley, together they raised four children. Lieselotte loved crafts. She made many afghans for family and friends. She also crocheted all kinds of animals. She enjoyed making baked beans, potato pancakes and baking German bread. She had a gift with gardening and loved sharing her geraniums and lipstick vines. She was the host of many family reunions and loved being surrounded with family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Eugene Cropley of Pittsfield; her four children, Danial Cropley and his wife, Virginia, of California, David Cropley and his wife, Gail, of Plymouth, Karen Holmes of Biddeford and Tim Cropley of Vermont; her grandchildren, Jason, Roberto, Alison, Lisa, Maria, Michael, Bryce and Trafton; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Hans Walter Schleider and his wife, Dorle, of Germany. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Scott Jones officiating. A committal service will be held in the spring at Village Cemetery, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lieselotte’s memory to Pittsfield Community Swimming Pool Fund or Pittsfield Public Library Fund, care of the town of Pittsfield, 112 Somerset Ave., Pittsfield, ME 04967.
