HAMPDEN – Frederick H. Snyder, 80, husband of Lorna Snyder, passed away Jan. 6, 2009, surrounded by his family at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 27, 1928, in Hampden, the son of Leslie B. Snyder Sr. and Mildred (Meservey) Snyder. Fred was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He had lived for many years in Hampden and was a former constable. Fred was a truck driver and inside foreman for Nabisco Co. for 45 years. He enjoyed coaching farm league and Little League, watching softball and playing cards. Fred will be remembered as a hard and dedicated worker and as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Lorna of Hampden; two sons and their wives, Jason Frederick Snyder and Patricia of Winterport, and their children, Lindsey and Hannah Snyder and Steven Cartwright; and Glenn H. Snyder and Jeanne of Hampden, and their children, Brittany Snyder, Patrick and Brad Merrill; one sister, Frances Goulet of Steuben; nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with Robert Landry officiating. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, and noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
