ST. ALBANS – Frank W. Brown, 70, died Jan. 8, 2009, at a Dexter nursing home. He was born Aug. 30, 1938, in St. Albans, a son of Henry and Madeline (Dewey) Brown. He graduated from Hartland Academy and served 17 years in the U.S. Army, which included a tour in Germany and Korea and two tours in Vietnam during the war. He was a member of Corinna American Legion Post No. 73 and Newport Memorial Post No. 11191 VFW. He is survived by his loving wife, Coretta (McPhetres) of St. Albans; a daughter, Gloria Harris; and a granddaughter, Grace Brown, both of Venice, Fla.; three stepchildren, Beverly and husband, John Hartford, of Michigan, Patricia and husband, Lorenzo Pizzarro, of Corinna, and Darel and wife, Maria Mountain, of South Carolina; seven stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Everett Brown and friend, Joan Calderbank, of Westbrook, and Charles and wife, Sharon Brown, of St. Albans; four sisters, Carole Ludden of Detroit, Catherine Brown of St. Albans, Marlene and husband, Richard Webber, of Stetson, and JoAnn Small and friend, Jim Austin, of China, Maine. He was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Thomas and Jon. A military committal service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
