MADAWASKA – Edgar Roy, 97, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at a Madawaska health care facility. The eighth of 17 children, Edgar was born June 18, 1911, in Frenchville, the son of Joseph and Laura (Michaud) Roy. On June 28, 1944, he married Lillian Rossignol of Fort Kent. Edgar was a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 2638 of Madawaska. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by seven brothers, Patrick, Donat, Dave, Leonard, Leo, Gilbert and Aurel; and six sisters, Yvonne Roy, Mary Jean Cyr, Alma Toulouse, Laurie Morneault, Agnes Fongemie and Leanne Roy. He is survived by a sister, Leontine Boucher of Washington, Utah; two brothers, Emil Roy of Plainville, Conn., and Emay Roy of Hartford, Conn.; two children, Richard Roy of Madawaska, and Pearline and her husband, Jean-Claude Plourde, of McMasterville, Quebec; one grandchild, Jolyane and her husband, Sylvain Bonneville; one great-grandchild, Mila Bonneville, all of Saint-Hubert, Quebec; numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Daigle Funeral Home. Spring interment will be at the parish cemetery in Madawaska.
