WESTBROOK and MILLINOCKET – Robert Leo McQuarrie, husband of Geneva Beaulieu McQuarrie, passed away Jan. 8, 2009, with his loving family present at Maine Medical Center, Portland, after a short battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 24, 1947, in Skowhegan, the son of Christopher McQuarrie and Dorothy (Godin) Watts. He graduated from Stearns High School, Class of 1967 and went on to work at Great Northern Paper Co., for 20 years. He also worked for many years at Rich Tool & Die, Scarborough, in the maintenance department. He spent the last eight years working for Macco properties, Hampton, N.H. He was an avid fly-fisherman, liked to hunt and spent many trips to Slaughter Pond with his father, daughter and sons. He spent many enjoyable years camping with his wife, family and friends. He also liked car racing and spent many weekends at Oxford Plains Speedway and Loudon, N.H. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Geneva Beaulieu McQuarrie; and his six children, Daniel and Martha McQuarrie of Windam, Edward of Machias, Jeff and Sandy of Gorham, Denna of Raymond, Robert Jr. of Portland, and Dorie and Aaron Pelletier of Dayton. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Watts; and five sisters who will miss him dearly, Lynette and Stephen Shaw of Millinocket, Kathleen and Michael Fuller of Loveland, Colo., Dawn and Ian Stewart of Millinocket, Brenda and Peter Misiura of Medway and Theresa and Steven McGowan of East Millinocket. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who were all the loves of his life and his greatest pride and joy; he would spend countless hours playing with them and granting their every wish no matter how outrageous or funny. He is also survived by an uncle, Robert Godin and his wife, Muriel, from Oakland; several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Robert R. Watts in 1996, the father that raised him as his own; and his biological father, Christopher McQuarrie, who died before his birth in 1946. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 715 Bridgton Road, Route 302, Westbrook. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Robert L. McQuarrie Trust Fund, set up to help families with uncovered medical expenses.
