BUCKSPORT – Lena Marie (Buckingham) Leeman, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, in Bucksport. She was born April 10, 1920, in Forest City, New Brunswick, daughter of John Leonard and Ella (Leeman) Buckingham. She moved to Millinocket in November 1925 and graduated from Stearns High School in 1938. Lena married Maynard L. Leeman, Oct. 5, 1940, and moved to Bucksport in 1941. She belonged to Maine Co-operative Extension of Hancock County, formerly Farm Bureau, for 60 years. She is survived by her husband; three children, Ellen Clement of Augusta, Ronald Leeman and wife, Sharon, of Wiscasset and Paul Leeman and wife, Grace, of Montague, Calif.; a sister, Neva Miller and husband, Carlton, of Millinocket; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; one sister, Avis Larson; brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Nadine Buckingham; a nephew, John Miller; and a son-in-law, Edmund Clement. Family and friends will gather for visitation 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
