PERHAM and PRESQUE ISLE – Lillian M. Harris died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born Sept. 2, 1916, in St. Agatha. Lily was the last surviving child of Ami and Delina (Gauvin) Bourgoin. They family moved to Stock-holm, then to Caribou, where she attended school. Lily married Ernest G. Harris, Nov. 13, 1934, and moved to Austin Homestead, Perham, where she lived until 1989 when she moved to Sewall Commons, Washburn. Since November 2000, she had resided at Pres-que Isle Rehab and Nursing Center. She had been a member of First Baptist Church, Perham, since she moved to Perham. She served as church clerk, sang in the choir, taught the women’s Sunday school class and directed the junior church for many years. She was active statewide in American Baptist Women of Maine and in WCTU. She was a teacher and counselor, as well as treasurer at Baptist Park. Lily earned her GED and became a teachers aide in the Washburn school district. Lily was predeceased by her parents; her husband in 1975 and 13 siblings. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, among them are Lillian Mich-aud and Paul Hebert of Caribou, Rena Goldenberg of Geo-rgia, Loretta Theriault of Massachusetts, Yvette Michaud of Lewiston, Eva Fischer of Yarmouth, Eleanora Ehlers of California, Ronald Dow of Belfast and many others. We thank the administrators, caregivers and friends at Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center and Dr. David Jones for taking care of Lily so well. A graveside service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Fairview Cemetery, Route 228, Perham. A reception will be after at First Baptist Church, Perham.
