BANGOR – Dorothy L. (Coates) Lawrence, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born May 22, 1925, in Oakland, daughter of Walter and Bessie (Henderson) Coates. Dot worked at Bass Shoe, Bangor; and as waitress at White Elephant Restaurant, Brewer. Dot enjoyed spending time with her family and her daily trips to Dysarts Travel Stop, Hampden, and Dunkin’ Donuts. She is survived by three children, Daniel of Bangor, Wayne and his wife, Debra, of Corinth and Kathy of Bangor; grandchildren, Donnie Lawrence of Bangor, Ryan Lawrence and his fianc?e, Candace, of Waldoboro, Jamie Stanley and her husband, Scott, of Orneville, Nikki Yawn of Bangor and Kenneth Hall of Corinth; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Johnny and his wife, Kris, of California; a sister, Phyllis of Arizona; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Adam Lawrence of Corinth; her brothers, George, Walter and Dick; sisters, Edith Branscomb, Evelyn Fish and Alice Getchell; and her very special friend, Don Lawrence. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden. Arrangements by Memorial Alternatives, 205 Center St., Bangor.
