DOVER-FOXCROFT – David G. Tondreau, 72, died Jan. 13, 2009, in Dover-Foxcroft. He grew up in Westbrook, raised by his grandmother, Lydia Tondreau. Dave worked as a young teenager at S.D. He joined the U.S. Marines at age 18, serving three years, during which he traveled to Vieques, Puerto Rico, Okinawa and Japan. He later worked at Sebago Moc for more than 30 years as a handsewer. An avid golfer, he had many golfing buddies at River Meadow, Westbrook. He took up mountain biking and roller blading when many his age had slowed down. His friends could depend on him showing up in a colorful, often purple, outfit, appropriate to the sport. He was a lifelong member of Portland Eagles and the American Legion.
