BANGOR and NEWBURGH Felix Joseph Blinn Sr., 84, passed away peacefully Jan. 10, 2009, at Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. Felix was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Bangor, to the late George H. and Mary Estelle (Melanson) Blinn. Felix grew up in Bangor and graduated from John Bapst High School, Class of 1942. He then entered the U.S. Army during World War II, where he fought in the Battle of the Buldge with the 106th Infantry Division, also known as the “Golden Lions.” After his military service, he worked many years as a meat cutter for Star Beef Co. Felix is survived by his son, Felix J. Blinn Jr. and wife, Jan, of Brownville; three grandchildren, Christina Blinn of Lowell, Mass., Gina Miller and husband, Josh, of Burlington, Colo., and Felix J. Blinn III of Portland; four great-grandchildren, Raven, Michelle, Aureyana and Damien; as well as one brother, George Blinn of Colorado Springs, Colo. Felix was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice Hartley of Monroe; four brothers and one sister. A gathering to celebrate Felix’s life will be held 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 17, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. Interment in the spring will be at Knowlton Cemetery, Newburgh.
