PITTSFIELD – Marie Q. Merrithew, passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital, Pittsfield, with her loving children by her side. She was born Feb. 19, 1919, in North New Portland, the daughter of Martelle and Georgie (Ronco) Quint. Marie lived most of her life in Pittsfield and Burnham. She worked in several restaurants and at Pittsfield Woolen Mill. While living in Burnham, she worked alongside her husband, Leonard, in their grocery store. She is survived by her seven children, Judith Paine and her husband Travis, of Boothbay Harbor, Joyce Cookson and her husband, Sherman, of Burnham, Robert of Pittsfield, Peggy Cookson and her husband, Melvin, of Burnham, Kathy Lovely and her husband, Rick, of Pittsfield, Richard of Pittsfield and Scott and his wife, Tammy, of Burnham. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Jeannette Fitts of Pittsfield, and Margaret Lowell and her husband, Vaughn, of Bucksport; and sister-in-law, Mary Quint of Pittsfield. Marie was predeceased by her mother and father; a sister, Arlene; two brothers, Martelle Quint and Robert Webb; and a special grandson, Benjamin Lovely. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Sebasticook Valley Hospital and all others involved for their kindness and care during their mother’s final days. The Merrithew family, Judy, Joyce, Bob, Peggy, Kathy, Ricky and Scottie. There will be no funeral or visiting hours at the request of the family. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
