FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Bernice Jones Foss, 93, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009. Mrs. Foss was born Dec. 7, 1915, in Lubec. Mrs. Foss spent many years at her husband’s side as a faithful pastor’s wife in churches in Boothbay, Clinton, Hermon and Mechanic Falls. She and her husband also spent time in Sommerville, New Brunswick and Canada. After retiring she moved to Fredericksburg, Va., to live with her son, where they were active in the ministry of New Life in Christ Church and Temple Baptist Church. Mrs. Foss had been a dialysis patient for 12 years. She had finished her last course, kept her faith and was a great encouragement to all who have known her these last few years. She leaves behind her husband, the Rev. Kenneth Foss, to whom she had been married for 74 years. Mrs. Foss will be sadly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Andy Foss of Fredericksburg, Va.; as well as their daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Paul Parkes of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Mrs. Foss leaves behind grandchildren, Eric Foss and his wife, Carrie, of Costa Mesa, Calif., Tim MacDonald and his wife, Karen, of Ajax, Ontario, and Kathy German and her husband, Tom, of Ajax, Ontario; and her great-grandchildren, Taylor of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Joshua, Cassandra, Alex, Christina and Kalista, of Ajax, Ontario. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Mary Crosby Jones of Lubec; her brothers, Raymond, Austin, Sherman, Howard, Frances and Douglas; her sisters, Verna and Barbara; as well as her grandson, Kenneth Christopher Foss of Fredericksburg, Va. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Reid, the Rev. Douglas Kittredge and the Rev. Drew Landry officiating. Entombment will be afterward in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at the church.
