OLD TOWN – Elaine “Memere” Thibodeau, 75, died Jan. 15, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born May 28, 1933, the daughter of James and Estel (Beaulieu) Young. Elaine spent her whole life living in Old Town, where she was a proud member of Holy Family Church. She was involved in VFW Auxiliary Post No. 3381, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and for a few years was a member of Old Town Senior Citizens Group when she was able to get around more. She enjoyed cooking and boating at her camp on Pushaw Lake. Elaine was very special in that she never forgot a birthday in her family and was always thinking of everyone else. She is survived by her four children, Victoria Stinchfield and her husband, David, Kristine Hall and her husband, Ricky, Gregory Thibodeau and his wife, Kristy, and Robert Thibodeau and his wife, Donna. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Wynter Stinchfield, Benjamin Stinchfield, Erica Hall, Gregory Thibodeau II, Corey Thibodeau, Jessica Ford, Lindsay Ford, Robert Thibodeau Jr. and Mark Thibodeau; as well as her great-grandchildren and close relatives. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Robert Thibodeau; and aunt, A’Zilda Beaulieu. The family gives special thanks to Dr. Atkins, Ross Manor, Stillwater Healthcare and Hospice of Eastern Maine for their compassion and kindness while taking care of Elaine. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Resurrection Parish, Holy Family Church, 429 Main St., Old Town, with Father Thomas Farley officiating. A luncheon will be immediately after the service. Interment at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery will be announced in the spring.
