OSPREY, Fla. – Joseph Maxwell Davis, 60, formerly of Lincoln, passed away peacefully Jan. 11, 2009, under the care of Tidewell Hospice, Florida. Joseph was born July 31, 1948, to loving parents, Maxwell Leroy Davis and Evalyn May (Basley) Davis of Lubec. Joseph began his career in health care in 1968 after obtaining his certification for Inhalation Therapy upon graduating from Temple University’s School of Allied Health, Philadelphia, December 1968. Joe practiced respiratory care for more than 25 years in the Philadelphia area, Millville, N.J., and then moving to the Bangor area. Joe decided he wanted to become a registered nurse and in 1994 he graduated from Husson College, Bangor, receiving his Bachelor of Science in nursing and a registered nurse license. Joe ended his career in the capacity of supervisor of Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center. Joe enjoyed camping, traveling and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed watching the news and keeping current locally, nationally and globally. Survivors include Joseph Monroe Davis, a sensitive, understanding son, and daughter-in-law, Terri, of Glendale, Ariz.; grandson, Kristopher David Davis and Becca, parents of great-grandson, Andrew Joseph Davis of Mansfield, Pa.; one remaining sibling, half sister, Mrs. “Poppy” Carter and husband, Forrest, of Pembroke; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe is also survived by a deeply caring companion of 11 1/2 years. She provided him with support, love and affection until his final day. Cremation to be completed at Good Earth, Bradenton, Fla., with his ashes to be distributed by loved ones at special places as designated by Joseph.
