BANGOR – Alvah W. Pomroy, 81, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at a Bangor nursing facility. He was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Bangor. Alvah loved music, as it was evident by his participation in the Stillwater Health Care Chorus. He worked as a car salesman at various car dealerships in the Bangor area for more than 50 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, Company 991, Rhode Island, abroad the USS WASP in World War II. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 45 years, Josephine M. (Leeman); daughter, Sandra Leeman and her companion, Tim Woodard, of Bucksport; daughter, Tammy Mishou and her companion, Larry Costain, of Holden; son, Timothy Pomroy and his wife, Monte, of Orange Park, Fla.; son, Ottie Spencer of Bangor; three grandsons, Jeffrey, Court and Lucas; granddaughter, Jessica; special friend, Gerald McKay; and many other special friends at Stillwater Healthcare, who were considered his family. A memorial gathering will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Pine Grove Remembrance Center, 1347 Hammond St., Bangor.
