PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. Deidre “Deedee” Kay Amero, 45, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, in Prescott Valley, Ariz. Born Nov. 30, 1963, in Pekin, Ill., she was the daughter of Ronald A. and Donna J. (Kaufman) Barber. Deedee was born and raised in Illinois, having spent her youth in the University Park area. She graduated from Crete-Monee High School in 1982. She went on to serve her country in the U.S. Air Force, where she met and married her husband, Gary. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and American Legion. She was an avid scrapbooker and was very proud of her country and her family. Deedee is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gary V. Amero of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; sons, Jonathan Amero of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Thomas Amero of Hampden; sisters, Terri Cote and Ray of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Toni Barber of Huntsville, Texas, and Susan Barber of Palm Coast, Fla.; brother, Douglas Barber and Barbara of Sugarland, Texas; mother, Donna Barber of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, retired Chief Master Sgt. Arnold V. “Chuck” and Rebecca E. Amero of Charleston; sister-in-law, Lainie M. Amero of Depot Bay, Ore.; brother-in-law, Dennis Amero and Marcia of Dover-Foxcroft; many nieces and nephews. Deedee was predeceased by her father, Ronald; and niece, Sara M. Cote. She will be greatly missed. Interment was held at National Memorial Cemetery, Phoenix. A memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at Bangor Latter-day Saints Chapel, 639 Grandview Ave., corner of Essex Street and Grandview Avenue, Bangor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Deedee’s name to your local Latter-day Saints Relief Services or your local Special Olympics.
