ORRINGTON – Clarence James “Jim” Kent, 73, died Jan. 22, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born March 26, 1935, in Bangor, the son of George C. and Lorraine L. (Smith) Kent. Jim was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1955. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and later became employed as a sales representative for Hamilton Marine, Searsport, retiring November 2008. He enjoyed golfing at the Samoset with his best friends, Bob Turcotte and Wendell Blanchard. Jim was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Rockland; a member of St. Andrew’s Lodge No. 83 AF & AM of Bangor, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Bangor and Anah Shriners. Surviving are his beloved wife, Bonnie of Orrington; their dog, Zoey; his cat, Teke; three brothers, Charles Kent and his wife, Joyce, of Gorham, George Kent and his wife, Brenda, of Bangor and Ralph Kent and his wife, Ann, of Eddington; nieces and nephews, Donald Kent and his wife, Arlene, of Camden, Charlie Kent and his wife, Penny, of Union, Stevie Kent and his wife, Karin, of Pinehurst, S.C., Michael Kent and his daughter, Chrissy, of Massachusetts, Lori Easton and her husband, John, of Holden and Lisa Wallace and her husband, Rick, of Eddington; children that Jim thought of as his own, Stacy Miles of Old Town and Kelly Jackson and her husband, Mark, of Milford; grandchildren, Kaylee, the apple of his eye and Nicholas, his best high fiver; his mother-in-law, Stella Cutliffe; and sister-in-law, Nancy Glidden and her husband, Ross. Jim was predeceased by his parents; two aunts, Marguerite Fitzpatrick and Thelma Claflin; and his dear friend and golfing buddy, Herb Waterhouse. Relatives and friends are invited to call noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a service will be held 1 p.m. with Pastor Richard Day, of House of Faith Church, Greenbush, officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service.
