PRESQUE ISLE – Kathleen Doris Campbell, 88, passed away Jan. 10, 2009, in Mount Juliet, Tenn. Kathleen, above all, loved God and lived her faith. She grew up during the Depression and suffered many losses, including her baby brother, Georgie, and her father to tuberculosis when she was only four years old. She was a hard-working farmer’s wife, a wonderful loving mother and much loved grandmother and aunt. She was a Fuller Brush lady for many years. Though she took no lessons, she learned to “play by ear” as she put it, taught herself how to play piano. For more than 35 years she was the church pianist and then, organist for Full Gospel Assembly, Presque Isle, and taught Sunday school. Well into her 80s, she was able to live on her own and was the church organist for the Rev. John Palmer’s church in Carson. She was well loved and cared for by her niece, Faith Corey Cochran, for many years while living at McCully Commons, Presque Isle. Truly heaven is a grander place for her presence there. Now she has put out her hand and touched the face of her God! Can the end of one’s life be more awesome than that?! She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Bernard Vance Campbell; her parents, John and Aleva Pettengill; son, Garry Dale Campbell; brother, George “Georgie” Pettengill; and sisters, Winnifred “Winnie” Pettengill and Dora Ryder Corey. She is survived by her son, Brent Campbell and his wife, Sandra, of Cadyville, N.Y.; a daughter, Karen Duncan of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; grandchildren, Scott Stephen Campbell of Dannemora, N.Y., Jeffrey Brent Campbell and his wife, Melanie, of Keeseville, N.Y., Lance William Campbell of Donelson, Tenn., Derek Craig Campbell of Altona, N.Y., Andrew Lane Campbell of Hermitage, Tenn., Jodie Kae Watts Thomas and her husband, Clinton, of Spring Hill, Tenn., and Jonathan Bradley Watts and his wife, Dana, of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Plummer Titveidt of Saranac, N.Y., Livia Loren Thomas and Elijah Calan Thomas of Spring Hill, Tenn., and twins, Mckayla Dei and Kaitlyn Marie Watts of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; great-great-grandson, William Tiveidt of Saranac, N.Y.; niece, Faith Corey Cochran of Easton; six other nieces and nine nephews.
