BANGOR – Hilda Uchiyamada died Jan. 21, 2009, at her home. She was born Feb. 19, 1914, in New York City. Hilda moved to Maine in 1948 and lived in Eastport and Bangor. She was a graduate of Hunter College and studied physics at Columbia University graduate school. She worked for the Manhattan Project at the University of Chicago; Electric Boat, Connecticut; and taught physics and mathematics at various colleges. She was predeceased by her husband, Ambrose Uchiyamada.
