WINTERPORT – Mary Evelyn Ginn, 67, passed away peacefully Jan. 24, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. Mary was born Dec. 19, 1941, to the late Albert L. Jr. and Myrtie (Bowley) Sawyer. Mary grew up and attended schools in Winterport. She then married her husband, Bernard, and together started their family. Mary worked for the family forestry business as a bookkeeper, but most importantly as an exceptional homemaker. Mary enjoyed spending time with her loving grandchildren, working in her gardens, going to camp, ice fishing, snowmobiling, traveling and her coffee club girls. She had a bright and energetic spirit about her that was evident to all who knew her. Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Bernard D. Ginn Sr. of Winterport; her children, Bernard D. Ginn Jr. and wife, Sonja, of Winterport, Sandra J. Nelson and husband, Rick, of Holden, Darrell L. Ginn and wife, Julia, of Winterport and Lorraine M. Lockhart and husband, Eric, of Winterport; grandchildren, Benjamin Ginn and wife, Whitney, Brittney Shibles and husband, William, all of Winterport, Libby and Keith Nelson of Holden, Lauren and Derek Ginn, and Danika and Lukas Lockhart, all of Winterport; a brother, Larry Sawyer Sr.; a sister, Joyce Palmer, both of Winterport; as well as several nieces and nephews and several special friends too numerous to mention. Mary was predeceased by a brother, Albert Sawyer III; and six sisters, Rita Brown, Betty Taylor, Marilyn Surette, Helen Willis, Bessie Neal and Eleanor Bartlett. Family and friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, with Pastor Chuck Langbein officiating. Everyone is invited to Ellingwood Corner United Methodist Church after the service to share in light refreshments and a continued time of remembrance.
