BANGOR and SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Barbara VanDeBogert, 94, of Bangor and more recently of Sacramento, Calif., died Dec. 19, 2008, after a long illness at Casa Coloma Nursing Home, Rancho Cordova, Calif. In 1914 Barbara was born Barbara Lucille Stover in Bangor, where she lived her whole life before moving to Sacramento, Calif., in 2001 to be near her daughter, Ann. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1931 and Lasell College, Newton, Mass., in 1933, where she excelled at athletics. In 1939 she married Henry P. VanDeBogert of Medford, Mass. The couple made their home in Bangor, summering at Lucerne, and had two children. She was a long-term member of Hammond Street Congregational Church, Bangor. In recent years, she became an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She is survived by daughter, Ann Livesay and husband, William, of Sacramento, Calif.; son, Peter VanDeBogert and wife, Elaine VanDeBogert, of Beverly, Mass.; grandchildren, Ellen Main and husband, Alex, of South Pasadena, Calif., Lori Boltinghouse of Sacramento, Calif., Erin VanDeBogert and husband, Miguel, of Framingham, Mass., and Brian VanDeBogert of Medford, Mass.; great-grandson, Henry; and great-granddaughter, Violet, both of South Pasadena, Calif. A memorial service was recently held at St. Mark’s Methodist Church of Sacramento, Calif. A second memorial service will be held the week of July 19, 2009, at Hammond Street Congregational Church.
