GARDINER – Joyce Maschino went home to be with Jesus Feb. 5, 2009, after a long illness, with her family at her side. She was born Aug. 17, 1929, in Augusta, the daughter of Walter F. and Minnie A. Doane. She married “John” Maschino, Dec. 14, 1946, at Winter Street Baptist Church, Gardiner. Mum was the “mum of all mums.” She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Some of her happiest times were spent with her children and family. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Joyce was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Bill Eaton; and her loving husband of 54 years. She is survived by her two sons, Michael and his wife, Nancy Maschino, and Stanley and his wife, Jeni Maschino; her two daughters, Shirley and her husband, Lee Harvey, of Gardiner and Julie and her husband, Marcel Moore, of Winthrop; three sisters, Joanne Hatch, Marilyn Lemieux and Cynthia Pinkham; eight grandchildren, Gregory Roy, Michael Maschino, Nicole Roy Fyfe, Heather Maschino Cohen, Bobbi-Jo Maschino, Jesse Maschino, Kelsey Doyle and Madison Moore; and nine great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Maple Street, Farmingdale, across from Hall-Dale High School. A celebration of her life will be after at the service in the church rectory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HealthReach Hospice & Volunteers of Kennebec Valley, P.O. Box 828, Waterville, ME 04903-0828. Arrangements are in the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
