MOUNT DESERT – Lois K. Hamor, 63, passed away peacefully Feb. 8, 2009, in Bar Harbor, with her entire family by her side. She was born June 19, 1945, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Robert E. and Freda L. (Brewer) DeRevere. Lois had been battling a horrible disease called vasculitis for about 20 years. For the past four or five years she hid her unbearable pain from everyone. She put on a great facade whenever she went out or in front of her family and friends. It was a great shock, but no surprise when she called her family together in the hospital to ask their permission to let her go in peace and be with her Lord. She was a very strong, courageous and caring wife, mother, friend, sister and grandmother, where her family came first and she came second. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her, but we as a family have found great strength from her courage. May she rest in peace without pain. She lived for spending time with her family and friends. Her passions were cooking for others and going to yard sales with good friends. She will be sadly missed by her dearest friends, Lee Bakie, Pat Lewis, Kay Moore and Libby Smith; and by her special aunt, Hazel Brewer. Lois is survived by the love of her life, husband of 23 years, Brian of Somesville; three daughters and their husbands, Denise and Jeffrey Perkins of Gorham, Tammy and James Moore Jr. of Lamoine and Edi and Stephen Caromile of Town Hill; one son, Edd Hamor of Somesville; one brother, Robert DeRevere and wife, Maureen, of Blue Hill; grandchildren, Michelle and Bailey Moore and Riley and Alexa Perkins; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and by her first husband, Bruce Kelley. Lois was a member of Somesville Union Meeting House, where she was once a Sunday school teacher and attended Jupiter First UCC. She was a past hospice worker. Friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. A celebration of Lois’ life will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Somesville Union Meeting House. At Lois’ request, there will be a party immediately after at Kathy’s Lighthouse Restaurant, Trenton. Contributions in Lois’ memory may be made to Lions Scholarship Fund, care of Dick Church, P.O. Box 180, Southwest Harbor, ME 04679. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.
