HOLDEN – Maryann “Eva” Kaupelis, 89, passed away peacefully Jan. 9, 2009, with family by her side at a Bangor hospital. She was born Aug. 8, 1919, in Waltham, Mass., daughter of the late Pierre and Marie Ann (Laramee)Gosselin. She was widowed at the early age of 43; she raised eight sons and one daughter on her own, she never remarried. She walked to and from work in any kind of weather well into her late 70s. She moved to Maine in 2001, to reside with her daughter. She was a strong, amazing woman, who will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John A. Kaupelis; three sons, Douglas A. Kaupelis, Gary B. Kaupelis and Kenneth J. Kaupelis; three brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her children: sons, Richard and wife, MaryJane Kaupelis, of Florida, Ralph Kaupelis of East Boston, Mass., Wayne and wife, Vincie Kaupelis, of Waltham, Mass., Robert and wife, Deborah Kaupelis, of Arizona, Edward and wife, Sue Kaupelis, of Worcester, Mass.; daughter, Cynthia Kaupelis and her significant other, Galen “Wayne” Hesseltine, of Holden; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor, for the care and compassion that Maryann and her family received while there. At Mom’s request, there will be no services. There will be a celebration of her life this summer, Aug. 8, at the home of her daughter, Cynthia Kaupelis, 155 Mann Hill Road, Holden.
