IRENE MARIE (GONYER) DUPUIS ORONO – Irene Marie (Gonyer) Dupuis, 87, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Sept. 28, 1921, in St. Agatha, the daughter of Donald and Christine (Ouelette) Gonyer. Irene was very active in the Orono community. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the president of Orono Senior Citizens, a member of Orono Health Association, R.S.V.P., and Daughters of Isabelle. She volunteered at the Orono thrift shop. Irene is survived by her grandson, Jay Dupuis and his wife, Michelle, of Bradley; and great-granddaughter, Erika Dupuis of Bradley. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband; Francis; son, Jerry; brother, Rosario; and sisters, Adrianne and Lucille. Irene was very grateful for her good friends, Walter, Theresa and Raymond, Thomas, Dorothy Soucie, John Dall, and Suzanne and Gary Mock. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Orono, with the Rev. Thomas F. Farley, celebrant. A committal will be held in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Orono. A service of Brookings-Smith, LaBeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono.
