BANGOR – Richard “Rick” A. Simpson Jr., 48, died unexpectedly Feb. 10, 2009. He was born March 22, 1960, in Bangor, the son of Richard A. Simpson Sr. and Barbara E. (Lepage) Simpson. Rick was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1978 and the University of Maine School of Civil Engineering, Class of 1980. In 1984, he moved to Ward Hill, Mass., and worked for Scott Construction Co. While living in Massachusetts he attended classes at Boston Architectural Center. In 1990, Rick moved back to Bangor and began a 17-year career in car sales, including management for Van Syckle, Darlings and Down East Toyota. Rick enjoyed volunteering for Road to Recovery and Relay for Life. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Rick was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed spending time at camp tubing and boating with family and friends. He enjoyed many road trips to support Drew and Erica in both hockey and swimming. He was a tireless worker. When not helping others, he was continually working on projects at home. Recently Rick enjoyed the family trip to Disney World to cele-brate his parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. The memory of Rick’s contagious laughter and sense of humor will continuously brighten our days. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife of 28 years, Dawn (Rockhill) Simpson of Bangor; two children, Drew Simpson and his wife, Sarah, and Erica Simpson, all of Bangor; three grandchildren, Madysen, Hope and Alice Simpson; two brothers, Joe Simpson and his wife, Tracy, and Charlie Simpson and his wife, Jennifer, all of Bangor; one sister, Rhonda Byers and her husband, Alan, of Hermon; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor. Gifts in memory of Rick may be sent to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
