MADAWASKA – Philip O. Hebert, 56, passed away Feb. 11, 2009, at a Fort Kent health care facility, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 3, 1953, in Fort Kent, the son of Emile A. and Alma (Guerrette) Hebert. Before his illness, he was a mechanic for Hebert Brothers, Madawaska. Being raised on a farm he looked forward to working the potato harvest every fall. He was well known for always having a joke or a story to tell. He took great pride in being a director and trail master for Madawaska Snowmobile Club. He was also a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 2638 of Madawaska. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 33 years, Joan (Michaud) Hebert of Madawaska; one daughter, Amy Castonguay and her husband, Scott, of Madawaska; two sons, Dean of Madawaska and Jason and his wife, Lauren, of Old Orchard Beach; one very special 2-month-old grandson, Josh Castonguay “mon ti pitou”; four brothers, Romeo and his wife, Vi, of Madawaska, Reginald and his wife, Joan, of St. David, Norman and his wife, Georgette, of Madawaska, Robert and his wife, Jeannine, of Madawaska; and his special sister, Roberta, “his second mom” and her husband, Danny LaBrie, of St. Agatha. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Berthier; and a daughter, Stacy. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at St. David Church. Friends and relatives may call 8:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in the spring at St. David Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edgar J. Paradis Cancer, Northern Maine Medical Center, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743. Arrangements have been entrusted to Daigle Funeral Home, Madawaska.
