MATTAWAMKEAG – Carl E. Sweeney, 72, husband of the late Elsie (Glidden) Sweeney, died Feb. 16, 2009, at a Lincoln health care facility. He was born Nov. 24, 1936, in Eastport, the son of Charles A. Smith Sr. and Dorothy E. (Sweeney) Smith. He is survived by a brother, Charlie Smith of Lincoln; two sisters, Gloria Reardon of Palermo and Merlyn Russell of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews.
