DEXTER – Melvin T. Clukey, 92, passed away Feb. 16, 2009, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born June 9, 1916, in Dexter, son of Thomas and Jennie (Pooler) Clukey. He graduated from N.H. Fay High School, Dexter, and enlisted in the Army Air Corps, in 1943. Melvin was a lifelong communicant of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dexter, and was a member of Knights of Columbus. He worked as a weaver at the Abbott Woolen Mill for many years. Melvin is survived by his wife of 55 years, M. Helen (Chabot) Clukey of Dexter; a daughter, Jeanne and her husband, Allen “Jack” Foster, of Sidney; a grandson, Stephen Foster; a granddaughter, Jessica Foster; a sister, Angeline Berard of Waterville; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Lionel, Julian and Fabian; and a sister, Jacqueline Brown. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dexter, with the Rev. Mark Nolette, celebrant. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of service at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter. Spring burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
