BANGOR – Elizabeth A. Flanagan, 78, died Feb. 17, 2009, at an Orono health care center. She was born June 17, 1930, in Brewer, the daughter of Daniel F. and Bridget E. (Hickey) Flanagan Sr. Elizabeth was a longtime resident of Bangor and was a 1948 graduate of John Bapst High School. She was a 1952 graduate of St. Joseph College, Emmetsburg, Md., and worked as a dietician and food service manager for the University of Maine for 33 years, retiring in 1986. Elizabeth was a communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Catherine Tekancic and her husband, Robert, of Euclid, Ohio, and Sr. Josephine Flanagan of Portland; one brother, Thomas Flanagan of Enfield, Conn.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and two brothers, John and Daniel Flanagan. Family and friends may visit 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be concelebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Burial will be immediately afterward at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
