HAMPDEN – Joseph “Joe” Albert Foss Sr., 66, died Feb. 16, 2009, at his home. He was born Oct. 5, 1942, in Machias, son of Emery L. and Cecila (Look) Foss. He was employed as a foreman in an area shoe factory for many years, and in more recent years, was the owner of Airport Rivercity Taxi. Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Maxine (Paige) Foss of Hampden; seven children, Emery L. Foss and his wife, Moira, of Hampden, Windy Brillant and her husband, Dale, of Florida, Cheryl Foss of Florida, Joseph Foss Jr. and his wife, Sherry, of Bangor, Peggy Newbury and Jim Stockwell of Sedgewick, Jeannie Hardison and her husband, Raymond, of Sullivan, and Kenneth Thompson of Bangor; 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Donna Foss and Lauri Legere; many other nieces and nephews; two brothers, Hylman Foss of Harrington and Merton Foss of Calais; and three sisters, Edna Thompson of Cherryfield, Ethelyn Wright of Addison and Lorraine Mecuim of Ohio. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Brookings-Smith Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held noon Thursday, Feb. 19, with the Rev. Charles G.
