PATTEN – Susanne Chase, 70, died Feb. 16, 2009, in Bangor. She was born Nov. 1, 1938, in Patten, the daughter of Russell and Marjorie (Smallwood) Alley. She was a graduate of Biddeford High School and had attended beauty school in Portland. She was a member and past president of Patten Woman’s Club. She was a selectmen for the town of Patten for many years, where she had served as first selectmen. She was on the board for Katahdin Valley Healthcenter where she served as chairman. She was also on the board of incorporators for Patten Housing and she was a former member of Patten Methodist Church, where she was in the choir. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Chester Chase of Patten; four brothers, Royce Smallwood of Patten, Keith P. Smallwood of Petaluma, Calif., Morris A. Alley of Farmington, N.H., and Arlen Alley of Colville, Wash.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside memorial services will be announced at a later date.
