CHERRYFIELD – Mary E. Morse, 79, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at her home, after a long illness. She was born April 3, 1929, in Steuben, daughter of the late Ivo C. and Bertha (Hodgkins) Leighton. Mary was educated and graduated from Cherryfield Academy. Throughout the years she was employed at a fish factory in Boothbay; Harry Grants Store, Cherryfield; at Wyman’s and many years at a blueberry lease with her husband, Delmar, in the Barrens. Mrs. Morse was a loving mother and grandmother, who loved animals, knitting, bird watching, playing games and was a real good cook. She shared 55 years of marriage with the late Delmar Morse, who died in 2002. Family members include a daughter, Joan Colson and husband, Gerry, of Harrington; a son, Timothy Morse and significant other, Marion Wright, of Cherryfield; two grandchildren, Angela Robinson and fiance, Raymond Northrop, of Columbia and Shawn Colson and fiancee, Karen Small, of Harrington; three great-grandchildren, Shelby, Austin and Morgan; a sister, Arlene Fickett of Virginia; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be sadly missed by a sister-in-law, Barbara Rossi of Cherryfield; and a four-footed feline companion, Buffy. She was predeceased by two children, Barry A. Morse and D. Craig Morse. Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Main Street, Milbridge. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
