TROY – Estella C. Cook passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at a Brewer health care facility. She was born May 22, 1918, in Thorndike, the daughter of Almond and Marion (Cole) Cooper. She worked for many years alongside her husband, Raymond, at Ethan Allen Furniture, Burnham. She was also a nurse’s aide at Seaton Hospital, Waterville, and a member of Ladies Auxiliary and Senior Citizens Club of Troy. As well as being a tireless worker, Estella was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Raymond A. Cook; and a sister, Dora (Cooper) Jackson. She is survived by a son, Galen Cook of Norway; a daughter, Marie Shibles of Brooksville, Fla., and Philip Shibles of Troy; five grandchildren, Paul Cook and his fiancee, Laurie Saucier, of Hermon, Cheryl Sweeney and her husband, Phil, of Hill, N.H., Gary Cook and his wife, Angela, of Brownville, Terri Richards and her husband, David, of Dover-Foxcroft and Tracy Cook and his wife, Sandra, of Corinth; 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ethel Wren of Thorndike; her cousin, Stanley Cole of Clearwater, Fla.; many nieces and nephews. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers at Emilio Estates, Corinth, and Brewer Rehab and Living Facility for the wonderful care and comfort that Estella received. Visiting hours will be held 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield, with a funeral service to begin 3 p.m. with her grandson, Pastor Tracy Cook officiating. Spring interment will be at Rogers Cemetery, Troy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Troy Volunteer Fire Department, care of Troy Town Office, 129 Rogers Road, Troy, ME 04987.
