CARIBOU – George “Don” Wilcox, 92, died Feb. 21, 2009, in Caribou. He was born May 25, 1916, in Caribou, the son of George and Mary (Bubar) Wilcox. Don served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at Sal-Mor Forms, Presque Isle, and was also a welder at the Portland Shipyard. Don was a member of Caribou Assembly of God Church and member of Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 VFW and Henry B. Pratt Post No. 15 American Legion. He married Marilyn (Jacobs) Wilcox, Oct. 24, 1974. Surviving, in addition to his wife of Caribou, are 10 sons, George and Zelda Wilcox Jr. of Westbrook, Erwin and Donna Wilcox of Westbrook, Conn., Galen and Annette Wilcox of Old Saybrook, Conn., Alden and Gail Wilcox of Boones Mill, Va., Dwight and Gail Wilcox of Woodland, Dennis and Norma Webber of Charlotte Hall, Md., Larry and Judy Webber of Princeton, N.C., Reggie and Jeanne Webber of Beaumont, Texas, Randy and Paula Webber of Hanover, Md., and Jeff Webber of Baltimore; three daughters, Louise McDougal and Kathy and Harold Dubay, all of Caribou and Lori and Paul Knox of West Chester, Pa.; one brother, Delmer Wilcox of Caribou; 41 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Nettie Drost; his second, wife Phyllis Smith; a son, Mike Webber; twin daughters, Bonnie and Eileen Mary; brothers, Herb, Bill, Floyd and Irvin Wilcox; sisters, Helen, Phoebe, Minnie and Janie; a great-granddaughter, Tena; and a great-great-grandson, Scott. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, where evening military services will be held by the officers and members of the VFW and American Legion. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Caribou Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Herbert Wilcox officiating. Spring interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
