BUCKSPORT – John E. Boyle, 55, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, surrounded by his loving family, at home, after a most valiant and courageous battle with cancer. Born Feb. 27, 1953, he was the son of Charles L. and Helen E. (Clark) Boyle. John’s favorite pastimes included hunting and otherwise being outdoors, classic cars, and classic Harley-Davidson’s. Brilliant and funny, he was a remarkable storyteller. John especially cherished time spent with his family, and was an exceptionally loving and devoted father and husband. John is survived by and will be sadly missed by his wife of 33 years, Janet (Brown) Boyle; his daughters, Erin Boyle and Amanda Boyle and their fiances, Gabe Bowden and Nick Starbird; as well as his “grandpets,” Brutus, Buckwheat and Peaches. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Boyle and Dennis Boyle; sisters, Joannie Saunders and Cheryl Boyle; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Elizabeth Brown; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Judy and Mike Marzolf, Jane and Alan Joseph, and Julie and Aaron Vinson; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family extends a special gratitude to Dr. Eric Hartz and the staff at CancerCare of Maine, as well as a special nurse, Kathy “Pipes” Beller. At John’s request, a private graveside service will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions in John’s memory may be made to CancerCare of Maine, 417 State St., Suite 20, Bangor, ME 04401.
