HUDSON – Ronald Dale Cronkite Sr., 50, died unexpectedly Feb. 22, 2009, while skiing at Sugarloaf Mountain. He was born June 2, 1958, in Bangor, son of Dale W. and Doris V. (Stevens) Cronkite. Ron was ambitious, hard working, outgoing and lived life to the fullest. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed basketball, sled hockey, skiing, four-wheeling, hunting and camping. Ron was an active member of Alpha One and the Handicapped Skiing programs. Surviving, in addition to his mother, Doris (Stevens) Cron-kite of Hudson; are three children, Bobbie-Jo (Cronkite) Riley and her husband, Ian, of Fort Hood, Texas, Ronald “Ronnie” Cronkite Jr., and Dianna (Cronkite) Sullivan and her husband, David, all of Veazie; six grandchildren, Kyrestaine, Chelsea, Caleb, Colby, Mason and Corbin; two sisters, Sharon Merchant and her husband, Robert, of Kenduskeag, and Corinne Ouelette and her husband, Doug, of Glenburn; a niece and nephews. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Matthew Ward, senior pastor of Charleston Pentecostal Church, officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday.
