DEER ISLE, Maine — Investigators from the Maine State Police continue to investigate the double stabbing that injured two men early Sunday morning.
According to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, the investigators are still interviewing witnesses to the incident. Officers went to an apartment on Route 15A on Sunday morning in response to a report of an argument that had resulted in two men being stabbed.
The victims were Jeffrey Jones, 42, of Florida and Carlos Garcia, 21, of Stonington. Garcia was taken to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later released. Jones was taken by helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he remained Wednesday recovering from his injuries.
McCausland said he anticipated that once the investigation was completed, the district attorney’s office would review the case to determine what the next steps should be.
