FORT FAIRFIELD – Marguerite E. Detweiler, R.N., 89, wife of Robert H. Detweiler, passed away Tuesday evening, Feb. 24, 2009, at a Presque Isle health care facility, after an extended illness. She was born May 14, 1919, in Perth, New Brunswick, the daughter of Henry and Agnes (McLean) Paterson. Marguerite became a resident of Fort Fairfield in 1924 and was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1939. She went on to attend Brigham and Women’s Hospital Nursing Program, Boston, where she received her registered nursing degree in 1941. Marguerite was married to Robert H. Detweiler, July 14, 1956, and had been employed as a registered nurse at Fort Fairfield Community General Hospital for five years, and 1950-1956 worked at Northern Maine Sanitarium, Presque Isle. Mrs. Detweiler was a member of Fort Fairfield Bethel Baptist Church for many years. She was predeceased by her parents; and is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert H. Detweiler of Fort Fairfield. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A graveside service with the Rev. Dee Lower officiating will be announced at a later date. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Detweiler to Martha and Mary’s Kitchen, P.O.
