EASTPORT – Frances “Billy” Wilson, 81, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, Feb. 24, 2009, at Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. Billy was born April 30, 1927, in Eastport, to the late Hartford and Lucy (Cross) Spear. On Feb. 2, 1947, Billy married John Wilson, also of Eastport. They resided there until their deaths. Billy worked at many businesses in Eastport including the sardine factories, Camick’s Drugstore and JJ Newberry’s. She was known for her dry sense of humor and enjoyed playing Beano when she was able. She spent the last three years in the nursing home where she was lovingly cared for by the staff. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Wilson; a brother, Roy Cunningham; and four sisters, Vesta Robinson, Irene Cunningham, Inez Magnano and Elsie Spear. Surviving are her daughter, Irene Rogers and her husband, Skip, of Dennysville; a grandson, Chris Stevens of Cutler; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service to honor both Billy and Johnny will be held in the spring at Hillside Cemetery, Eastport, with Pastor Lynn Rutledge officiating.
