HOWLAND – Theo “Tillie” York, wife of the late Richard “Arnold” York, died Feb. 26, 2009, at her nephew’s home. She was born Jan. 15, 1919, in Kingman, the daughter of Frank and Annie (Linscott) Severence. The family moved to Passadumkeag when she was four. She graduated from Howland High School and went on to become a licensed practical nurse. She and Arnold were active in school affairs. They were parent chaperones for the Class of 1959 and many of that class’s activities. She was a past president of the local PTA and a member of the WSCS of the Methodist church. The special people who survive her are granddaughter, Bobbi Fowler and her daughter, Shelby; grandson, Travis and his wife, Meghan, and his mother, Jean York; her brother, Durward Severence and his wife, Mary Ellen; sisters, Hope Hilliker and Freda Davis; sister-in-law, Lillian Marquis; niece, Betty Duffy; nephew, Churchill Eldridge; daughter-in-law, Roberta York; and a very special nephew, Robert Davis. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Richard Jr.; brothers, True, Woodford, Earle, William and Frank Jr.; sisters, Truth Eldridge, Yvonne Martin and Nettie Stimpson. A graveside prayer service will be held in the spring at West Enfield Cemetery. Arrangements by Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.
