BREWER, BANGOR and CHERRYFIELD – Maureen E. (Worcester) Packard, 70, passed away peacefully Feb. 28, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 7, 1938, in Cherryfield, the daughter of Henry and Ruth (Tenan) Grant. Maureen was a member of Cherryfield Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a very kind and caring person, and loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Brian Worcester and Shirley Parsons of Levant; her daughter and husband, Teresa and Wayne Hurlbert of Harrington; five grandchildren, Melissa Hurlbert, Matthew Hurlbert and his wife, Jill, Mark Hurlbert and his wife, Sarah, Mandy Hurlbert and her boyfriend, Dicky, and L.W. Hurlbert; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Charles II and Mark Wayne II; Aunt Doris and Uncle Liston Grant of Levant and several cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two husbands, Richard Worcester and Stephen Packard; and a very special friend, Evelyn Fickett. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Garrett, director of chaplaincy services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
