BREWER – John Thomas Moore Sr., 78, died peacefully Feb. 28, 2009, at his home. He was born Aug. 14, 1930, in Bangor, son of Carey Lawson and Mary Alice (Fraser) Moore. He attended Bangor schools and was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1948 to 1952. Tom was a well-known and respected carpet installer in the Greater Bangor area for more than 40 years, and in more recent years, he was employed in the produce department at Shaw’s supermarket, Main Street, Bangor, and was well liked by his customers. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling and earned his black belt in karate at the age of 65. Tom will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth (Campbell) Moore of Brewer; four children, Katherine L. Maher and her husband, Daniel of Bangor, Sharon M. Ridley and her husband, Tom, of Portland, Maureen F. Snow and her husband, Robert, of Brewer, John T. Moore Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Baltimore; eight grandchildren, Melanie Walden and her husband, Aaron, Kelly Bernier and her husband, Joe, Andrew Snow and his fianc?e, Candice, John Snow, Matthew Okishoff, Mary Ridley, Katie Snow and Megan Moore; six great-grandchildren, Tristan, Casey, Spencer, Taylor, Abbie and Ben; two nieces, Linda Birnbaum and Peggy Dubrow. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by two sisters, Norma and Peggy; and one brother, Theodore. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Brewer. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
