WATERVILLE – Arlene C. Frost, loving wife of 66 years to Harold D. Frost, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, in the caring company of her husband and daughters at Glenridge Nursing Facility, Augusta. Arlene graduated from Coburn Classical Institute, Waterville and a library science program at the University of Rhode Island. She spent many years as a librarian in Providence, R.I., and Portsmouth, N.H. Mom’s enthusiasm for life was a strong influence on her family, although she did rather reluctantly climb Mount Katahdin. Arlene was a member of Pleasant Street United Methodist Church, Waterville. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and a worthy matron of Fadette Chapter No. 166 of Eastern Star, York. Arlene and her husband ran Capn Frost Bed and Breakfast, Thomaston, for many years. They enjoyed trips to the United Kingdom, and another favorite destination was Cape Cod, Mass. Arlene was an avid antique collector and also enjoyed reading, square dancing and quilting. She was the mother of six children, Anne Elizabeth Frost Rehner wife of Lew Rehner, Richard A. Frost husband of Mary Anne Frost, Judith Frost Gillis wife of Alan C. Gillis, Barbara Frost partner of Cathy Ogle, Marjorie L. Frost partner of Rita Woods, and Susan Frost Morin wife of Donald Morin; as well as a grandparent to 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at Pleasant Street United Methodist Church, Waterville, with the Rev. Arlene Tully officiating.
