BANGOR – Norma (Kingsbury) Graffam, 84, died peacefully Feb. 28, 2009, at home, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Born Feb. 7, 1925, in Bangor, she was the daughter of the late Joel L. and Ruby E. Kingsbury. She was the wife of the late Donald C. Graffam. Having graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1943, Norma remained actively involved with many of her classmates. She worked in the banking industry for many years at Merrill Trust, Bangor and Union Trust, Ellsworth. She was a member of All Souls Congregational Church, Bangor and was a participating member of the women’s association and the garden group. Her favorite pastimes included lunch with her many friends, trips to the symphony, picnics on Mount Desert Island and gardening. She was a fantastic cook with a great sense of humor. Norma is survived by her twin sister, Hilda Burnett and husband, Lloyd, of Hamilton, Mass.; a niece, Stephanie Quinn and husband, Rick, of Wenham, Mass.; nephews, Douglas Burnett and wife, Vickie, of De Funiak Springs, Fla., and Terrance Burnett and wife, JoAnne, of Danvers, Mass.; an uncle, Timothy Kingsbury of Frankfort; a brother-in-law, Robert Graffam and wife, Mary, of Brewer; nieces, Deborah Mallar and husband, Jim, of Holden, and Mary Bureau of Bangor; a nephew, Robert Graffam and wife, Phyllis, of Vero Beach, Fla.; great-nieces, Meghan Quinn, Lindsay Mallar, Nicole Bureau, Jessica Bureau and Christine Graffam; great-nephews, Jason Burnett, Adam Burnett, James Mallar, Mathew Graffam, Brian Graffam and Bobby Graffam; and special cousins, Nancy Van Horn and husband, Stan, and Brenda Homestead and friend, Sandy Rothera. A private memorial service will be held for the family at a later date.
