NEWPORT – Virginia F. Scott, 78, died March 2, 2009, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital, after a long illness. She was born May 2, 1930, in Appleton, Wis., the daughter of Willis and Florence (Merness) Stroebe. She was a graduate of Liberty Baptist College, Lynchburg, Va. Virginia was the bookkeeper for Scott Transportation, Bangor, for many years. In her younger years, Virginia was a licensed pilot and loved to fly. She is survived by her loving husband, Frank I. Scott of Newport; five daughters and one son, Gaen Watson of Hancock, Raymond Miller and his wife, Kim, of Lewiston, Joli McKeen of Searsport, Gren Heyer and her husband, Ron, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Francesia Bombardier of Bangor, and Rebecca Faulkingham and her husband, Peter, of Hebron, Ky.; two stepchildren, Robert Scott and his wife, Caroline, of Milford, and Barbara Scott of Augusta; one sister, Lois Cotton of Oshkosh, Wis.; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Deana and Louise Henley, both of New Hampshire; 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by close friends, James and Rita Menice of Detroit. Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport, where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, March 5, with the Rev.
