DETROIT – Colleen G. Hobbs, 79, died March 4, 2009, at a Brewer nursing care facility, after a long illness. She was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Detroit, the daughter of Cecil and Erma (Bryant) McLaggan. She was educated in Detroit schools and was a graduate of Maine Central Institute, Class of 1948. She owned and operated Lightbody Boarding Home, Pittsfield, for many years. Colleen loved crafting and sewing. She donated more than 200 quilts to babies with AIDS. She is survived by one son, Halvor A. Magnus Jr. of Ripley; three daughters and their husbands, Sharen and Keith Wells Sr. of Pittsfield, Karen and Wes Francis of Corinth and Dede and Wayne Gamble of Levant; three brothers, Cecil McLaggan and his wife, Doris, of Albany, Ga., Delbert McLaggan and his wife, Joyce, of Detroit and Royce McLaggan of Plymouth; two sisters, Beatrice Soucy and her husband, Francis, of Detroit and Lorraine Bouffard of Pittsfield; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be remembered by her former husband, Allen Lightbody of East Millinocket; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Magnus-Crowe of Newport; Michelle McLaggan and Barbara Webber. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Norman Bouffard; her sister-in-law, Mary McLaggan; and husbands, Halvor Magnus Sr. and Harrison Hobbs.
