CARIBOU – Elizabeth R. Wright, 88, died March 4, 2009, in Fort Kent, after a brief illness. She was born June 3, 1920, in Fort Fairfield, daughter of the late Allison and Ella Mae (Amsden) Kelley. In her younger years Elizabeth was a hairdresser, and during World War II she was employed at Pratt and Whitney, Connecticut, where she was a machinist grinding fan blades for airplanes. She married Philip Wright who was killed during World War II while crossing the Rhine River. In 1954, Elizabeth accepted the Lord as her Savior and attended Zion Bible Institute. After her graduation from Zion, she served as a missionary in several parts of the country. She spent many years ministering to the needs of the young and homeless of Oklahoma City. She loved the Lord and was never afraid to stand up and be a witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Elizabeth was also a licensed practical nurse. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Avis Thompson of Caribou; as well as several loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wright was predeceased by her husband, Philip; two brothers, Ellion and Ellery Kelley; and a sister, Audrey Johnson. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of services Monday, March 9, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roger Jewell officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Mrs. Wright may do so through Zion Bible College.
